how's it work?
Live It OutLoud is designed to give students the technical and artistic skills necessary to pursue their passion and even develop careers in the broader entertainment industry. Any aspiring, non-professional musician ages 12-18 can participate. Guitarists, drummers, keyboardists, bassists, vocalists, and other instrumentalists are welcome. The only prerequisites are the passion to work hard and learn for eight amazing weeks.
The students will be placed in bands, and these bands become their new family. Students should expect to practice on their own on a daily basis, in order to properly learn the songs for the program. Each band is encouraged to rehearse more than once a week together, and many find they want to rehearse almost daily. |

All bands will perform at least 3 shows on major local stages. This gives everyone a chance to live their dream of playing live in a professional concert atmosphere.
Attendance at club performances is mandatory. |
Bands will be challenged to create and perform one original song and one cover for the final concert. Band mentors will provide songwriting guidance, and a program-wide Songwriting Seminar will be presented to assist in structure, lyric composition and arrangement.

you will get to...
Rehearse. Each band will schedule a weekly rehearsal with their mentor in one of the provided rehearsal spaces. The bands are encouraged to rehearse multiple times a week and Ted Brown Music stores have in-store rehearsal space as availability allows. All the in-store rehearsal spaces will be outfitted with professional gear (sound system, amps, keyboards, drums).
|
learn.During the eight weeks, a series of important group seminars are presented. The seminars provide an intimate opportunity for students, to interact with high level professionals and apply the networking skills we teach from day one. Scheduled seminars typically include: Stage Performance, Songwriting, The Business of Music, Music Promotion, Music Theory as well as keyboard, guitar, vocal and drum master classes. Attendance to these seminars are mandatory.
|
Get better. One of the most valuable workshops is the PERFORMANCE BOOTCAMP where the bands get to perform in front of a panel of music professionals and get their performance evaluated.
It's incredible to see how fast the bands can implement the feedback given into their live performances! |

Record. In the weeks following the concert, each band will have the opportunity to record their original song at the legendary London Bridge Studio in Shoreline, WA. The song will be professionally mixed and mastered and published on digital distributions and on a Compilation CD. Legendary bands like Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Macklemore and the Dave Matthews Band have recorded there.

Final Red carpet award show. The Live It OutLoud experience culminates with the Final Red Carpet Award Show, held this year on Saturday, August 11th at the Rialto Theater in Tacoma.
